Hi! My name is Mia Gallant and I’m a Web Developer based in New Jersey, USA.

Outside work you will often find me getting my steps in with my toy poodle named Cutie, watching F1 with far too much emotional investment, or in a theater on a random Tuesday morning because movies are better when nobody else is there (VIEW)

But on a typical workday, I am usually drooling over a designer's wireframes, then building them out section by section until the live site matches the file to a T. Including the spacing. Especially the spacing.

My day usually starts with a walk, an early grey tea, then eating the frog.

Most of the time I am working on Shopify builds for designers and agencies who'd rather not touch the code.

What are your first memories of the Internet?
MySpace, and specifically the agony of choosing the song that auto-played on my profile.

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?
Taking a designer's mockup and making it behave exactly as intended on every screen size, including the ones nobody tests, so the client never has to think about it again. It scratches the part of my brain that wants everything to line up perfectly.

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?
Ordering Uber Eats for lunch since I'm soooo hard at work! ;)

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Minimalist. Modern. Editorial.

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?
The power section has been super helpful for quick, custom layouts without having to code them from scratch.

What makes your work standout?
I'm a firm believer in playing to your strengths and handing off the rest. Development is the rest. Designers stay in creative control while I translate their file into Shopify as a 1:1 match. My Soft Sprint is a dedicated two-week window where their project is the only build I'm touching. That means a designer can slot development into their own project timeline instead of building their schedule around mine, and nothing gets cut to make the date.

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?
Root RitualWebsite →A full-scope build from the ground up. Her business came out of twenty years of clinical experience and one belief: that real wellness starts in the gut. I handled every step, brand through development, including custom Shopify sections built so she could run the store herself after launch.
Root Ritual used the full scope of Standout Shopify rather than any one workshop, and the Liquid sections got the most mileage. A lot of the custom work on this build came down to writing Liquid until the theme did what the design needed instead of what it shipped with.
This project taught me that I'm more analytical than I am artistic. I can appreciate good design, but making it from scratch is a different kind of brain, and hats off to the designers who live there. It's exactly why I love taking development off a designer's plate so they can stay in the part they're brilliant at. Building the whole thing solo also taught me what the process looks like from every seat, which makes me a better collaborator now that I only sit in one of them.

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?
Pricing confidently is a skill you practice, not something that comes naturally. Rache reframed what we're actually building for people, and pricing got easier once I understood the value on the receiving end. That shift did more for how I feel about the work than any technical lesson did.

What is your dream website project?
Building and selling Shopify themes that look nothing like Shopify themes. That level of design usually only happens on a custom build, and I want it to be available to someone launching with no budget at all. There's a brand for it. It exists mostly in my drafts folder at the moment.
